On September 11, 2001, thousands of innocent people perished as a result of for hijacked planes flew to New York City, Pennsylvania and the Pentagon. This catastrophe left pain that will never heal and scars America will never forget. Because of this 9/11 event, patriot day was proclaimed to be the day for commemoration and remembrance.

 Today, patriot day is the day we remember the victims, their families, and the heroes who stood up during one of America's darkest moments.
In memory of the victims and heroes of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States, President Bush has proclaimed that Sept. 11 be observed as "Patriot Day" or "National Day of Service and Remembrance".

The proclamation of President George W. Bush has made September 11 become Patriot day in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Nowadays, we should celebrate patriot day annually so that we will always remember this fateful event.
